I read a legend about how The Ring of Brodgar was made, which said that giants from each of the islands of Orkney had turned to stone while dancing. Today, I carried out some research on this circle of megaliths.

The circle of megaliths, huge stones, was built in Orkney between 2500BC and 2000BC. There were sixty stones in the circle originally, but only twenty-seven remain. The Ring of Brodgar is part of the heart of Neolithic Orkney, a time when people had just invented farming and were using stone tools. This build didn’t just shape Orkney’s history but the world’s. It might have been made for an astronomical observatory, a religious shrine or rituals. Was it built for any of these things, or was it built for something else? No one alive can answer this question because the answer is in the Neolithic period, which ended around 4000 years ago.
I can’t believe that some of the stones are still standing after so many years.
