Advent

Advent starts on the Sunday nearest the 30th November. Christians have advent to remember Jesus’ birth and prepare Christmas celebrations. Christmas is the day Jesus was born. Many people celebrate advent by putting up candles and calendars. In church, Christians light one candle on every Sunday plus Christmas.

We made our own advent calendar. First, we put some milk chocolate in a jug. Then, we put the jug in a bowl of hot water, so the chocolate could melt.

Once it had melted, I poured it into the snowman, reindeer and sleigh moulds.

While the chocolate was setting in the freezer, I got the 24 bags and envelope sorted.

When they were set, we got them out of the moulds.

Next, we put them in wrappings.

Before the last bit, we made more but with dark chocolate.

Then, I put them in the bags and envelope. Finally, I gave them to Mum so she could hang them up, out of our cat’s reach!
