What’s eating our leaves?
There are some leaves with holes: maybe they are being eaten by slugs, snails and caterpillars.
Rock home
In a rock we might have seen a web or a nose.
Drone flies and buddleia
We saw some drone flies drinking nectar on buddleia.
Wood ferns
We saw sori on the sporophyte form of some wood ferns. Sori produce spores from which gametophytes grow. Gametophytes are the form of the wood fern that produces ova and sperm. When these meet, fertilisation takes place and a new wood fern sporophyte grows. Fascinating! And pretty complicated, too!
Yew tree leaves
We noticed some leaves and arils forming on the yew tree.
Pond Grasses
We saw some grasses down at the pond.
