I recently visited Yorkshire Wildlife Park, viewing an impressive range of rare big cats, savannah animals and much more! This is the number one place to both view and learn about animals.
My first destination was Ethiopia, where I spotted some mischievous gelada monkeys. The youngest was playing with the others, until its stern mother dragged it away by the tail. Ouch! I then passed the hyena enclosure and crossed a bridge over the Wetlands. This area is one of the natural habitats left for local wildlife. Next, I travelled through Africa, where I observed a peaceful herd of eland. I also spotted a couple of grazing zebra who bossed the eland around. Afterwards, I saw the lions. One was resting on a hill, bathed in sunlight.
Soon after, I headed to Wallaby Walkabout for one of the several daily talks about the animals. The zookeeper was very polite and helpful. He answered all the questions, and I actually learnt that there are multiple types of wallaby and spotted one of the two swamp ones at the zoo. When the zookeeper put down the ‘magic bucket’ with lettuce in, a couple of wallabies came over and stole the salad.
After a busy day, I headed back through Cheetah Territory, where I spotted the female Cheetah, Darcy, proudly sitting on top of a hill. A ‘purrfect’ end to a perfect day.
