Dear Woods,

On your ride, we saw two red-legged partridges, whose wings were striped.
I spied a small flower with rounded purple petals.
At camp, we found a green and brown shield bug;
A mustard froglet with brown stripes;
The remains of an eaten acorn;
A grey feather, whose tip looked shiny green in the light;
A bluebell bud surrounded by its leaves;
Your white-petalled wood anemones, which we found were scattered across you.
By the fallen tree, we heard the buzzing of a bee.
By the tree who is most precious to you, we found you growing lords and ladies, and red currants.
A few moments later, I saw a hawthorn, the first of your trees to finish growing new leaves.
Further on, in your mossy clearing, we found lords and ladies, and dog’s mercury.
Does dog’s mercury send dogs to Mercury?
I hope spring brings you more blessings—
