Anthropomorphism

My Little Pony uses anthropomorphism (the attribution of human characteristics and behaviour) as a literary device for the characters. This leads the ponies to behave in some different ways to what you would expect in real life.

The Mane Six

The Mane Six in My Little Pony are similar to real ponies in some ways. Like ponies, they walk on four legs and have manes. They also chew straw and just use their mouths to eat.

However, the Mane Six are different in many ways. Unlike real ponies, they run stores and bake. Like humans, they read and do maths, such as counting.

I know what is going on because they talk like humans. This is why I think that anthropomorphism makes My Little Pony more entertaining.
