Building Setting

Here are some exercises I’ve done on building setting: Setting: Remote forestGenre: Horror The imposing trees clawed the sky, blocking all light. The narrow path wound its way into the forest’s heart and a clearing. As a bolt of lightning flashed in the cursed sky, an abandoned mansion could be seen. Setting: Magical kingdomGenre: Fantasy … Read more

The Flares and the Leviathan’s Heart

‘Ready for an adventure, kids?’ said Jack. ‘Yes!’ exclaimed Sam and Tom. As they parked, Sam said: ‘Good driving, Dad. Much better than driving off the road during your first lesson.’ Tom ruffled his brother’s smooth, short hair: ‘It’ll be you next year!’ The trio half walked, half raced over to the mansion-like hotel. It … Read more

Life at Hydrothermal Vents

I am currently learning about hydrothermal vents and the organisms that live there. Today, I did my own reasearch and created a slideshow. I also used information I learnt from previous lessons. The slides automatically move onto the next every 15 seconds and restart after the last slide.

The Acorn Hound’s Tale

Buddy laid down in the armchair: ‘Now settle down pups and listen to my tale… Many moons before you were born, I lived a carefree life: playing in the garden every day. One day, I spotted a squirrel in the grass. The squirrel turned, staring at me with unusually large emerald-green eyes. I gave chase. … Read more

I recently visited Yorkshire Wildlife Park, viewing an impressive range of rare big cats, savannah animals and much more! This is the number one place to both view and learn about animals. My first destination was Ethiopia, where I spotted some mischievous gelada monkeys. The youngest was playing with the others, until its stern mother … Read more

Yorkshire Wildlife Park Advert

In English, I have been looking at adverts and how they are adapted for their purpose. Today, I created my own advert for Yorkshire Wildlife Park. In order to make this an effective advert, I have used a rhetorical question, four imperative sentences, bullet points, emotive words, a different style of text and capitalisation. Can … Read more

Home Sweet Habitat

Today, I started a new topic about habitats! I’ve created a presentation listing some of the physical environmental factors, animals and plants for five habitats. The slides automatically change after 15 seconds and will restart after the final slide.

The Effect of Material on Resistance

As the voltage increased, the nichrome and constantan currents increased at a slow, steady rate. Meanwhile, iron had a sharp increase in current.  Finally, at 10 V, nichrome is … Read more

Grand Opening

Yesterday, I completed the task of writing a recount of an imaginary situation, explaining how I opened Cheetah Territory at Yorkshire Wildlife Park. Can you spot the anecdote (a short story, normally funny, used in recounts)? Last week at Yorkshire Wildlife Park, I opened Cheetah Territory. This was my reward for winning a competition for … Read more

Giraffe

Today, I have continued last week’s English topic of figurative language. However, I have written a description of the giraffes at Yorkshire Wildlife park instead of a place. I hope you enjoy! As it eats, the giraffe wonders, ‘Why am I like a diplodocus?’ The giraffe bends its neck to reach the lower leaves, its … Read more
