Have you ever noticed how TV crops up everywhere? It starts thousands of conversations, is watched even at family gatherings and its music is used at weddings. Yeah, TV is a global sensation. However, it is still heavily debated which form is best: TV shows with limitless numbers of short episodes or films with endless hours of joy. This reporter is on Team Films.
Making Memories
Remember going to see a movie with family over a year ago? I can, but I can hardly remember what I watched last night! This is why films are so great. Going out to see a film on a rare occasion creates a memory so special it is impossible to forget. Meanwhile, we watch shows so often our memories of them somehow become even messier than my bedroom!
Crushing Credits
We all know what actions have consequences, but I bet you didn’t know that the short length of TV shows has a consequence. This consequence I speak of is the credits we all hate. They pop up more often when watching a show than a film. Take ‘The Simpsons’ for example, a show I’m sure you’ve all seen. Did you know that watching the movie will give you roughly 75% less credits than watching the show for the same amount of time?
Super Suspense
Have you ever had to abandon a film when the main character is in trouble for boring, old work? By watching shows the chance of this is greatly reduced. However, this is a double-edged blade. As they are shorter, shows have less time to build suspense and excitement. This means that if you have to abandon a film part way through, you are left with an indomitable eagerness to find out what happens next, making the film more enjoyable when you finally get back to it.
Overall, I believe films are superior to shows as they create special memories, have less credits and are better at building suspense. But what do you think? Are you on Team Films or Team Shows? Please send us your thoughts.
