James and the Giant Peach

The author of James and the Giant Peach is Roald Dahl. In this children’s adventure classic, we meet James, a boy who lives with his evil aunts. Then, some magic crocodile tongues slither into the ground. Next, a huge peach grows on a peach tree, and inside the peach are several creatures. The result of James and the creatures meeting is a huge adventure using the peach as a moving house. Their first destination is the sea where there is a shark problem. Just when you think it can’t get any better the peach is flying and the travellers bump into Cloud-Men. The final destination is New York where the journey ends, but it is still very exciting.

Seagulls! Help us!

My favourite character is Centipede because he is very funny in different ways, for example, he’s obsessed with his boots. I really like the part where they land in New York. This is because I find some firemen and policemen thinking that the creatures, who are overgrown insects, are different imaginary beasts.

I would like there to have been more poems and songs. I want to see another adventure because I really enjoyed James and the Giant Peach.

I would recommend this book to 5-year-olds and older. If you like animals and adventures as well as a good laugh then this is the book for you.
